Double Alert for Cold Weather in Mexico City

The Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection Secretariat (SGIRPC) of Mexico City has activated a double alert due to the low temperatures that will be recorded during the early hours of Monday. According to the forecast, three municipalities will be the most affected by the cold. In some, temperatures of between 1 and 3 degrees are expected. A yellow alert was activated for Cuajimalpa, Milpa Alta, Tláhuac, and Xochimilco, while in Álvaro Obregón, Magdalena Contreras, and Tlalpan, an orange alert was activated. To reduce the effects of the low temperatures and protect the health of residents of these capital areas, the SGIRPC recommended that people who feel unwell go to a nearby health center. To prevent respiratory diseases, it was recommended to get vaccinated against the flu, as well as to avoid sudden temperature changes and to consume large amounts of water, fruits, and vegetables high in vitamins A and C.
